A new general study of Sweelinck's life and work, combining several texts I have written over the past twenty years, supplemented with new material. The goal was to write a book that would satisfy both "Liebhaber" and "Kenner." It is generously illustrated with color images, in which Sweelinck's brother, the painter and engraver Gerrit Pieterszoon, plays a prominent role.
